Multi-Digit Subtraction of Whole Numbers with Regrouping:
- Arrange the numbers being subtracted into a vertical format - Place the minuend on top
- Place the subtrahend on the bottom
- Draw a horizontal line underneath the bottom number
- Place a "-" to the left of the bottom number
 
- Subtract the digits in the rightmost column and place the answer directly below
- When the top digit of a column is less than the bottom digit, use the borrowing process: - Subtract 1 away from the digit in the top column that is one place left
- Place a 1 in front of the digit we are performing the subtraction with
 
- Repeat the process for each column working to the left
