Solving Trigonometric Equations Using Linear Methods

Additional Resources:

In this lesson, we will learn how to solve trigonometric equations. We will now consider trigonometric equations that are conditional. This means they are satisfied by some values but not by others. Here, we will learn how to solve trigonometric equations using linear methods. To perform this action, we will use basic properties of equality in order to isolate our trigonometric expression. Once this is done, we will use our unit circle to find values for θ that make the equation true in the given interval. Additionally, we will learn how to find the general solution using the period of the sine, cosine, and tangent functions.
