Distance Between Two Points

About:
Additional Resources:

In this lesson, we review the distance formula, which allows us to find the distance between any two points on the coordinate plane. The distance formula is derived from the Pythagorean formula, which relates the sides of a right triangle. Basically, we can draw a line connecting the points, which will serve as our hypotenuse. Then we can draw a right triangle and measure our two legs and plug into our Pythagorean formula: a squared + b squared=c squared, and solve for c, the distance between the two points.
