Finding Decimal Place Value:

1. Arrange the digits of the number into a place-value chart
2. Identify the place value of the underlined digit

Finding the Value of a Digit:

1. Arrange the digits of the number into a place-value chart
2. Identify the place value of the underlined digit
3. Multiply the digit by its corresponding place value

Rounding Decimals:

1. Locate the digit in the round-off place
2. If the digit to the right of the round off place is:
   • 4 or less, we leave the digit in the round-off place unchanged
   • 5 or more, we increase the digit in the round-off place by 1
3. Change all digits after the round-off place into a zero
4. Delete all trailing zeros to the right of the decimal point

Comparing Decimal Numbers:

1. Compare any whole number parts:
   • The decimal number with the larger whole number part is the larger number
2. If the two whole number parts are the same:
   • Compare digits in each number after the decimal point
   • The larger digit belongs to the larger number
   • When the two digits are the same, we move right by one digit and repeat the process
   • If all digits are equal, the two numbers are equal

Comparing Negative Decimal Numbers:

1. Any positive number is larger than any negative number
2. If both numbers are negative, the larger negative is the smaller number
