# Rational Exponents

In this lesson, we will review rational exponents, which are also known as fractional exponents. We can use fractional exponents to convert a radical expression into exponential form. In general, we will use either of the following rules to convert back and forth: $$a^{\frac{m}{n}}=\sqrt[n]{a^m}$$ $$a^{\frac{m}{n}}=(\sqrt[n]{a})^m$$
