Inclination of a Line

About:
Additional Resources:

In this lesson, we will learn how to find the inclination of a line. The inclination of a nonhorizontal line is the positive angle θ measured counterclockwise from the x-axis to the line. Additionally, we will learn how to find the angle between two lines. When we have two lines in a plane that intersect and are not perpendicular we obtain two pairs of opposite angles. The smaller of these angles will be acute and is known as the angle between the two lines. A formula can be obtained using the tangent of the difference of two angles. Lastly, we will learn how to find the distance between a point and a line. This can be done by finding the length of the perpendicular line segment joining the point and the line.
