In this lesson, we will learn about the factor theorem. The factor theorem is a direct result of the remainder theorem. We know that a polynomial function can be written in the form of f(x) = (x - k)q(x) + r. If f(k) = 0, then this tells us that x - k is a factor of f(x). We could also write this by saying if x - k is a factor of f(x), then f(k) = 0. Additionally, we will learn how to use the factor theorem to factor polynomials when a zero is given.
