Converting US Units
About:
Additional Resources:
In this section, we learn how to convert between common U.S. units of measurement. We look at various conversions between different units of length, weight, volume, and time. To convert between U.S. units, we first need to understand the relationship between the units we are trying to convert. We use this relationship to set up a unit fraction. The unit fraction shows the relationship between the two units and has a value of one. We place the units we want to end up within our numerator and the units we no longer want in our denominator. Once this step is completed, we multiply our original scenario by the unit fraction. We are multiplying by one, so the value is unchanged. Lastly, the units we don’t want will cancel out, and our answer will include the units we wanted to change over to.
