In this lesson, we will review how to use the quadratic formula to solve any quadratic equation. So far, we have covered how to solve a quadratic equation using factoring, and completing the square. Factoring is the easiest method to use but isn’t always available. We can always use the completing the square method, but it is often pretty tedious. The quadratic formula allows us to simply record the values for a, b, and c and plug into the formula and obtain a solution. We will also discuss the discriminant (part under the square root sign in the quadratic formula) which allows us to determine the number and type of solutions for any quadratic equation.
