Rational Zeros Theorem

About:
Additional Resources:

In this lesson, we will learn about the rational zeros theorem, which is also known as the rational roots theorem. The rational zeros theorem allows us to find all of the possible rational zeros for a polynomial function with integer coefficients. Since this only gives us the possible rational zeros, we have to take an additional step to find the actual rational zeros. This can be done using synthetic division and the factor theorem. The idea is that if f(k) = 0, then (x - k) is a factor of f(x), some polynomial function. It's important to note that the rational zeros theorem will not find irrational zeros or non-real complex zeros.
