In this section, we review special polynomial products. Special products are polynomial products that occur so often, we usually memorize a general formula to apply when we encounter these problems. Although these formulas are not necessary to solve the problems we are presented, learning these formulas will greatly increase our speed on homework, tests, and standardized tests such as the ACT, and SAT. We will look at the formula for the square of a binomial, which produces a perfect square trinomial. We will look at multiplying the sum and difference of the same two terms, which produces the difference of two squares. Lastly, we will look at and the cube of a binomial. In each case, the memorized formula is taught through a generic example. We then take this formula and apply it to the problems that are given.
